Greenwood has close to doubled in population over the last two decades, and Move Indy has been moving families and businesses through that growth. We have loaded trucks in the older streets around Old Town, worked inside the newer subdivisions off Stones Crossing, and handled more Center Grove area moves than we can count.
Whether you are moving to Greenwood, moving within it, or leaving Johnson County for somewhere else entirely, our crews already know the roads, the HOA moving windows, and the access problems that catch out-of-town movers off guard. Call 317-520-1473 or get a free estimate to get started.

We have always had wonderful service from them. We have hired for moves as well as hauling service and they are always prompt, professional, and friendly. They take exceptional care of your property and offer reasonable prices. Corrie is great to work with and took extra time with my 79 year old mother to help her with a difficult move. We moved from an hour west of Indy to the eastside of the city and Move Indy helped us ensure our move was easy, efficient, and kind! Every step of the way we were met with person-first care and communication and I couldn't ask for better service. Professional, great job
Intrastate, interstate and flat-fee moves are priced differently. Please contact the office for pricing questions.
Move Indy believes in simple and transparent pricing.
Our billing consists of only 2 components: a flat travel charge + the hourly labor.
If you choose to pay by credit card, we charge a 3% processing fee.
There are no additional fees or surprise charges…EVER!

The travel charge covers ALL expenses associated with getting our truck(s) & crew to/from your job. The travel charge is a flat rate, based on your origin & destination locations.

Hourly labor charges begin when our crew arrives at the job. The hourly rate is charged for the time spent loading & unloading, as well as travel time between your locations.

We charge a small deposit to hold your spot on our calendar. Deposits are applied towards the total cost of your move. A standard deposit is $100 per truck per day.
Moving is stressful enough without the added worry of surprise fees or confusing estimates. That’s why Move Indy offers Greenwood clients a clear, upfront pricing structure designed to be as simple as it is fair.
For local moves, we charge a flat travel fee and then bill hourly based on the size of your crew and the number of trucks required. All jobs have a 2-hour minimum, and we bill in 15-minute increments after that, so you only pay for the time you actually use.
Here’s a look at our standard hourly moving rates:
All options include:
Packing help? Our dedicated packing service is also $175/hour for 2 professionals, using high-quality materials to protect your belongings.
Need storage? We offer secure, climate-controlled units starting at $150/month, ideal for both short-term gaps and longer transitions.
Whether you’re moving a small apartment or a large family home, our transparent pricing helps you plan with confidence. No surprises. No hidden costs. Just honest rates backed by reliable service.
The # of trucks & movers required to complete your move will be determined at the time of the estimate.
Certain situations require more than 2 movers – please discuss with your Customer Service Representative.
Move Indy will provide a good faith estimate of labor hours, based on the list of items being moved.
Greenwood is really two cities layered on top of each other, and moving here means dealing with both.
The older core around Old Town and the original Madison Avenue corridor has narrower streets, tighter driveways, and homes built before anyone was thinking about 26-foot box trucks. Access planning matters more than crew size in these moves.
The newer growth on the west and south sides, out toward Center Grove and Stones Crossing, is a different problem entirely. These are HOA-governed subdivisions with rules about moving hours, truck parking, and street access. We confirm those restrictions before your move date rather than discovering them when a truck is already blocked at the entrance.
Traffic is the third factor. US-31 and County Line Road both carry heavy volume at predictable hours, and I-65 access points back up during commute windows. Greenwood Park Mall traffic changes the picture around the retail corridor on weekends. We build arrival times around all of it instead of sitting in it on your dime.
Every Move Indy crew arrives with moving pads, furniture wrap, dollies, and floor protection. Padding and wrapping are included on every job at no extra charge.

Leaving Greenwood for another Indiana city or relocating out of state? We quote long-distance moves as flat-fee jobs and travel directly from origin to destination. We do not share truck space, which means the crew that loads your home is the same crew that unloads it. No transfers, no consolidated shipments, no wondering where your belongings are sitting. Greenwood's position on I-65 makes it one of the more efficient departure points in Central Indiana for southbound and Chicago-direction long hauls.

Most Greenwood moves stay inside Johnson County or cross north into Marion County. Local moves are billed as a flat travel fee plus a transparent hourly rate, starting at $175/hr for 2 movers and 1 truck with a 2-hour minimum. Billing runs in 15-minute increments after the minimum, so you are not paying for a rounded-up hour you did not use. Whether you are moving from an apartment near Greenwood Park Mall to a house in Southern Dunes or across town toward Center Grove, we plan the route and crew size around your actual addresses.

From condos near Smith Valley Road to multi-level homes in The Trails and custom builds in Preserve at South Lake, we have handled Greenwood residential moves at every size. Furniture gets padded and wrapped, floors and door frames get protected, and items get placed where you want them rather than stacked inside the front door. We also move heavy and specialty items including pianos, gun safes, and appliances. Tell us what you have when you book so we bring the right equipment.

Greenwood's commercial base has grown alongside its population, from the retail corridor around Greenwood Park Mall to the office and medical space along US-31 and the industrial footprint near I-65. We relocate offices, retail spaces, medical practices, and warehouses, scheduling after hours or on weekends to keep your downtime minimal. Our crews disassemble and reassemble office furniture and handle IT equipment, files, and specialty gear with appropriate care.

Packing is the part of a move almost everyone underestimates. Our Greenwood packing crews bring all the materials and can pack your entire home or only the rooms you would rather not deal with, usually the kitchen and the fragile items. Full-service packing starts at $175/hr for 2 professional packers, and you pay only for the supplies actually used. Book packing with your move and we deliver boxes free before we arrive.

Closing dates in Johnson County shift more often than anyone plans for, and a gap between move-out and move-in does not have to derail your timeline. Our climate-controlled, video-monitored units start at $150/month for an 8x15 and $250/month for an 8x25, with daily rates available at $18/day for either size. Flexible scheduling means you move items in and out on your timeline rather than ours.

If moving means letting go of old furniture or clutter, we’ll help you clear the way. Our junk removal services are efficient, eco-conscious, and designed to save you time. Donate, recycle, or discard, we’ll sort it all out.

Nobody wants to scrub baseboards after a long moving day. That’s where we come in. Our professional cleaning crew will handle your move-out cleaning or prep your new home for arrival, so you don’t have to lift a finger.

Need boxes, tape, mattress covers, or specialty wraps? We deliver high-quality moving supplies directly to your Greenwood home, saving you an extra trip to the store.

Moving is the natural moment to finally deal with the furniture and appliances you have been avoiding for years. Our junk removal crews handle the lifting, hauling, and responsible disposal, scheduled before your move, after it, or on the same day. Clearing out first almost always makes the move itself faster and cheaper.

Packing yourself but short on materials? We deliver professional-grade moving boxes in every size, plus bubble wrap, packing paper, furniture pads, stretch wrap, tape, and specialty TV and mirror boxes directly to your Greenwood home. Unused, unopened supplies can be returned.
What makes Move Indy different isn’t just what we do, it’s how we do it. We combine the efficiency of a large company with the personal attention of a small team. We know how much is riding on your move, and we take that responsibility seriously.
Our structured 5-step system ensures no detail is missed. We begin with a consultation, follow with planning and packing, handle the transport carefully, and unload with attention to placement. Every step is designed to reduce stress and create a seamless experience.
Every move is handled with safety first. We wrap furniture, pad sharp edges, secure items inside the truck, and use proper lifting techniques to prevent injury or damage. We don’t move hazardous items, pets, or perishables, but we’ll guide you through what to pack separately so there are no hiccups on moving day.
Greenwood customers count on us for accurate, upfront pricing. Our quotes include clear hourly rates, a one-time travel fee, and no surprises. We also accept deposits that go directly toward your final balance. With a 98% satisfaction rate, our clients consistently praise our pricing transparency and budgeting flexibility.
Your life isn’t generic, your moving plan shouldn’t be either. We’ll create a timeline, checklist, and services package that works specifically for your move. Whether you're downsizing, expanding, or moving on short notice, our custom plans make it easier to stay on track.

Greenwood sits in Johnson County about 15 minutes south of downtown Indianapolis, positioned between US-31 and I-65. It has been one of Indiana’s fastest-growing cities for two decades, with a population that has roughly doubled in that time, and the growth has been driven by a straightforward combination: housing that costs less than the north-side suburbs, schools people actively move for, and a commute into Indianapolis that genuinely works.
Greenwood is best known for three things. First, the Center Grove school reputation, which draws families from across the metro and drives a meaningful share of the residential real estate market on the west side of the city. Second, Greenwood Park Mall and the surrounding retail corridor, which functions as the commercial anchor for the entire south side of the Indianapolis metro. Third, its municipal investment in public amenities, including more than 400 acres of parkland, the Freedom Springs Aquatic Center, and Craig Park.
Day to day, what residents point to is the value equation. You get more house for the money than in Carmel or Fishers, the schools are strong, and downtown Indianapolis is 15 minutes away. Old Town Greenwood has also seen real revitalization, with local restaurants and breweries giving the original city center an identity beyond the retail strip.
Schools are the primary driver, and there are two districts worth understanding before you buy. Greenwood Community School Corporation serves the city proper. Center Grove Community School Corporation serves the area west of the city and consistently ranks among the strongest districts in Indiana. Many buyers specifically target Center Grove boundaries, and the boundary lines do not follow city limits, so confirm the district for any specific address rather than assuming.
Beyond schools, Greenwood offers newer housing stock at prices well below comparable homes in Hamilton County, quick access to Indianapolis via US-31 and I-65, and a retail and dining base that means most errands do not require leaving Johnson County.
Move Indy charges $175/hr for 2 movers plus 1 truck, with a 2-hour minimum and a flat travel fee quoted in advance. Most 2 to 3 bedroom moves in Greenwood run 3 to 5 hours, which puts a typical 2-bedroom move in the $645 to $995 range. Larger crews are billed at $250/hr for 3 movers and 1 truck, $350/hr for 4 movers and 2 trucks, and $425/hr for 5 movers and 2 trucks.
There are no per-item fees, no fuel surcharges, and no charges added on moving day. A $100 per truck deposit holds your date and applies directly toward your total. A 3% processing fee applies to credit card payments, and that is the only additional charge in the structure.
Worth knowing before you compare Greenwood quotes. A company that will not give you an hourly rate without collecting your contact information first is usually protecting a number it knows is uncompetitive. A quote noticeably below every other bid often means a smaller crew, which stretches the job and erases the savings. A large upfront deposit is another warning sign, since the industry standard is small and applied to your total. Ours is $100 per truck.
Ask directly whether the movers are employees or day labor hired for the shift, and whether the crew that loads will be the crew that unloads on a long-distance job. Both answers tell you a great deal about how your belongings will be handled. Finally, confirm in writing that padding, wrap, equipment, and floor protection are included rather than billed separately. That is where quotes most often diverge from final invoices.
Mid-week and mid-month are consistently the easiest to book and the most flexible on timing. Weekends and the turn of each month concentrate demand because leases end and closings cluster there. Seasonally, Greenwood search demand peaks in August, and May through August is the busiest stretch across the whole metro. October through April opens up considerably. Move Indy operates 7 days a week including Sundays, so if a Saturday is genuinely the only option, we can usually accommodate it. Booking two to four weeks ahead gives you real choice on arrival windows.
Old Town Greenwood. The original city center, with older housing stock on established streets and a revitalized commercial strip of local restaurants and breweries. Narrow streets and tighter driveways are the main move-day considerations.
Center Grove area. West of the city proper, this is the district families specifically move for. Larger homes, newer construction, strong HOA presence. Confirm moving hour restrictions early.
Southern Dunes. Family-oriented streets with a walkable layout, popular with first-time buyers and growing families.
The Trails. Multi-level homes on established lots. Stairs and finished lower levels affect crew size, so mention the layout at estimate.
Preserve at South Lake. Custom homes on larger lots, generally the higher end of the Greenwood market.
Stones Crossing corridor. Newer subdivisions on the south and west growth edge with modern construction and HOA-managed amenities.
Valle Vista. Golf course community with established homes and mature landscaping.
Greenwood Park Mall anchors the retail side and draws from across the south metro. Old Town Greenwood has become the more interesting destination, with local restaurants, craft breweries, and seasonal events in the revitalized city center. Freedom Springs Aquatic Center and Craig Park cover the recreation side, and the city maintains over 400 acres of parkland. The Greenwood Freedom Festival each summer is the signature community event and one of the fastest ways to meet neighbors after a move.

What Sets Move Indy Apart in Greenwood
Most companies competing for Greenwood moves will not publish an hourly rate anywhere on their site. Ours is on this page: $175/hr for 2 movers and 1 truck, scaling by crew size, plus a flat travel fee disclosed before your move date. You can budget your entire move before you ever speak to us.
The team you book is the team that shows up. We hire and train every mover directly. No day laborers, no last-minute crew substitutions. Each crew arrives with moving pads, furniture wrap, dollies, and floor protection as standard equipment, not as an upcharge.
Moving out of a 1960s home near Old Town is a completely different job from moving into a new build off Stones Crossing, and treating them the same is how move days run long. We scout access at both ends during the estimate, so the crew arrives with the right equipment and a realistic time expectation.
Johnson County closing dates shift constantly, storage gaps happen, and multi-stop moves are common. We build your plan around your actual situation, and if something changes between booking and moving day, one phone call handles it. You will not be starting the booking process over.
